The MakerBot Replicator+ is a desktop 3D printer by Makerbot, a Brooklyn (USA) based manufacturer. Makerbot is now a Stratasys line of products.

The MakerBot Replicator+ is the latest version of the famous Replicator. It replaces the MakerBot Replicator Fifth Generation and brings a lot of improvements. The MakerBot Replicator+ is 30% faster, has a 25% larger build volume, and is 27% quieter than its predecessor. It also offers a flexible build plate equipped with the Grip Surface, optimized for better adherence during the 3D printing process, and easy to remove 3D prints when the job is finished.

The Makerbot Replicator+ is delivered with the Makerbot Desktop 3D software. This software can optimize the 3D files before sending the instructions to the 3D printer. It is now possible to directly use CAD files, without going through the STL export.

The following file formats are supported: MakerBot (.makerbot), STL (.stl), SolidWorks (.sldprt, .sldasm), InventorOBJ (.ipt, .iam), IGES (.iges, .igs), STEP AP203/214 (.step, .stp), CATIA (.CATPart, .CATProduct), Wavefront Object (.obj), Unigraphics/NX (.prt), Solid Edge (.par, .asm), ProE/Creo (.prt, .prt., .asm, .asm.), VRML (.wrl), Parasolid (.x_t, .x_b)

The MakerBot Replicator+ only 3D prints PLA. For this 3D printer Makerbot offers a Slate Gray Tough PLA Filament Bundle ($379) that is designed to allow professionals to create durable, high-impact strength prototypes and fixtures. This bundle consists of three spools of MakerBot Tough PLA Filament in slate gray bundled with the MakerBot Tough PLA Smart Extruder+. The MakerBot Tough PLA combines the best characteristics of PLA and ABS filament: tough as ABS with similar tensile, compressive, and flexural strength. It 3D prints with the ease and reliability of PLA.
