Photocentric Liquid Crystal Precision overview

The Photocentric Liquid Crystal Precision is a desktop resin 3D printer made by Photocentric, a manufacturer based in the UK. Photocentric is originally a resin manufacturer.

Photocentric now manufactures the Liquid Crystal Precision 1.5.

As its name hints, the LC Precision offers precise, high resolution 3D printing suitable for applications requiring fine details. Indeed, the Precision’s layer thickness starts at 25 microns, or 0.025 mm, and its XY accuracy is 45 microns, or 0.045 mm.

Photocentric Liquid Crystal Precision main features

The Liquid Crystal Precision offers a build size of 123 x 69 x 160 mm which, although it may be considered small, is ideal for 3D printing jewellery.

The Precision is different from other resin 3D printers as it doesn’t use a laser or a projector to cure the polymer. This 3D printer uses a 5.5″ LCD screen to harden a specially-formulated Daylight Polymer (a very sensitive daylight resin manufactured by Photocentric).

It takes between 14 and 18 seconds to cure one resin layer at a 100 micron resolution.

The Liquid Crystal Precision requires Creation Workshop software, compatible with Windows OS. Photocentric provides a free, one-year license with the 3D printer.

A dedicated part-washing unit– Photocentric Wash– and liquid resin cleaner are also available separately. The Photocentric Wash unit is able to easily clean parts in a few minutes.

Photocentric Liquid Crystal Precision price

The manufacturer price of the Liquid Crystal Precision is £999. The price for 1 kg of proprietary Daylight resin is £45. UV resins are also available from Photocentric.
