Post-processing for AM
Post-processing for additive manufacturing (AM) is a series of steps that 3D printed parts must go through to become final, i.e., with their intended mechanical and visual properties.
Such steps can be inherent to an AM process, like debinding and sintering for Binder Jetting, for example. Other steps like annealing can enhance a part’s mechanical properties, while bead blasting or coloring methods are used to enhance its visual appearance.
Post-processing is essential to the additive manufacturing ecosystem and must be taken into account when considering investing in AM machines.
