The BCN3D Technologies Sigma R19 is a professional desktop 3D printer made by BCN3D Technologies, a Spanish manufacturer. BCN3D is well-known for producing high-quality, open source desktop 3D printers.
This dual extruder 3D printer is a follow-up to the Sigma R17. A larger version exists, the Sigmax R19.
Sigma R19 vs. Sigma R17
This release is accompanied by an updated version of the BCN3D Cura slicing software. The Sigma’s user interface via the touchscreen has also been refined.
Hardware-wise, one of the main improvements lies in the extruder and nozzle, for which BCN3D has respectively partnered with Bondtech and e3D. Another addition includes a filament run-out sensor.
Upgrade kits are available for users that already own a BCN3D Sigma or Sigma R17.
BCN3D Sigma Release 19 main features
- IDEX (Independent Dual Extruder): enables users to 3D print two objects at the same time in Duplication or Mirror mode. It is also possible to 3D print with two different materials.
- Hotend Family: users may easily switch between nozzles. There are six available nozzle diameters, ranging from 0.3 to 1.0 mm. These nozzles can 3D print at temperatures of up to 280°C.
- High-performance 3D printing head: the Sigma R19 boasts dual-drive Bondtech gears as well as e3D-optimized nozzles to provide better quality.
- HEPA filter enclosure (optional): provides more control when 3D printing complex materials (ABS, Nylon, etc.) to avoid warping.
