ADIRA AddCreator overview
The ADIRA AddCreator is a very large format metal 3D printer made by ADIRA, a manufacturer based in Portugal. ADIRA presented the first version of the AddCreator in 2016.
This industrial 3D printer’s very large build volume allows users to 3D print parts of up to 0,5 m3. It is suitable for a variety of professional applications in automotive and aerospace industries, for example.
Tiled Laser Melting technology
The AddCreator uses metal powder material and is also based on a powder-bed fusion (PBF) system. With this technology, the metal powder spreads into a vat, instead of on a flat print bed.
ADIRA uses Tiled Laser Melting technology. That means that, unlike the other PBF 3D printers, the AddCreator features a segmented build chamber.
ADIRA’s product development engineer Filipe Coutinho explains the process as follows: “we process [powder layers] in smaller segments, specifically 250 x 250 x 250 mm tiles. After the layer is set, we move the process chamber over the powder bed and we scan the required areas for that same layer, afterward moving it outside of the working area for the deposition of a new one”.
The exclusive feature of the AddCreator is the possibility to scale the process on-demand.
