BeAM Magic 2.0 review

The Magic 2.0 is an industrial 3D printer made by BeAM, a French manufacturer. The BeAM Magic 2.0 was designed to repair or create new metal parts of great dimensions.

The BeAM Magic is capable of operating on up to 5 axis and boasts a build volume of 1200 x 800 x 800 mm.

BeAM CLAD technology

The BeAM Magic is based on the CLAD technology (patent by BeAM ). This technical process is capable of melting and projecting metal powder on a surface with a powerful laser system. Another name for this manufacturing technique is DED (Direct Energy Deposition).

BeAM’s CLAD technology offers several advantages compared to other 3D metal printing techniques:

  • this technology uses less raw materials
  • it is possible to quickly change the 3D printing material
  • CLAD enables the reparation of metal parts
