Markforged Mark Two overview
The MarkForged Mark Two Enterprise kit is a professional desktop 3D printer made by MarkForged, a manufacturer based in Massachusetts (US). The MarkForged Mark Two replaces the MarkForged Mark One Standard and the MarkForged Mark One Professional.
This printer was designed to overcome the strength limitations of other 3D printed materials, by printing strong composite materials. The MarkForged Mark Two can 3D print parts, tools, and fixtures with a higher strength-to-weight ratio than Aluminum.
Composite Filament Fabrication (CFF) 3D printing technology
The MarkForged Mark Two composite 3D Printer has two extruders and uses Composite Filament Fabrication (CFF) 3D printing technology. One nozzle extrudes Onyx, Markforged’s proprietary material (carbon-filled Nylon). The other nozzle reinforces Onyx with a continuous strand of fiber (carbon fiber, kevlar, or fiberglass).
The parts printed on the MarkForged MarkTwo are up to 20 times stiffer and 5 times stronger than similar parts 3D printed using ABS plastic.
Markforged Mark Two vs Mark One
Compared to the Mark One, the Mark Two offers the following upgrades:
- 40% faster fiber printing process
- Reinforce features 15 times smaller than before
- A host of incremental improvements in software, hardware, and materials to enhance the overall user experience
