Introducing the new FlashForge Creator 3

The brand new FlashForge Creator 3 is an entry-level professional FFF (fused filament fabrication) 3D printer. It is destined for professionals in industrial design, architecture, mechanical design, and tool design.

Indeed, complex designs and geometries can be achieved thanks to the dual print heads and soluble support compatibility. The Creator 3 printer is also capable of printing with composite materials such as carbon-fiber-filled Nylon (PA-CF) as well as with tough engineering materials such as ASA or Polycarbonate.

Furthermore, despite its affordable price tag, FlashForge has equipped the Creator 3 with a large build volume and a range of other professional-grade features which we will take a look at in the following sections.

IDEX: Independent Dual Extrusion

This professional desktop 3D printer is equipped with a set of two independent print heads, meaning that they can move separately along the same axis. Independent dual extruders enable several new printing modes:

  • Mirror mode: Useful for 3D printing large, symmetrical objects twice as fast.
  • Duplication mode: Enables users to 3D print two (or pairs of) identical objects at the same time.
  • Two-color mode: Users may print objects with two different materials or colors. This is particularly interesting for 3D printing with soluble support material, for which the Creator 3 offers a great performance.

The two print heads benefit from automatic nozzle wiping between prints or print sections to avoid damaging the rest of the print.

Remote monitoring

Even if 3D printers are generally more reliable than they were several years ago, it’s still important to keep an eye on them while they’re 3D printing.

That said, and as with any 3D printer, the printing process for one object may take several hours or even days. However, It isn’t always possible to stay in the same room or building during the whole print time, especially outside of office hours.

That’s why the FlashForge Creator 3 allows you to conveniently check on your prints from wherever you are. It sports an integrated camera that can be accessed via FlashCloud, and you can launch, pause and resume, or stop prints thanks to its cloud control.

FlashCloud can notify users in case the printer runs out of filament, too.

Office-friendly and easy to use

The Creator 3 3D printer can be placed almost on any desktop, in any office. It boasts a closed frame to protect prints from temperature changes or room drafts, and its air filter (Carbon filter available optionally) filters up to 95% of the printer’s particle emissions.

This professional 3D printer is also easy to use, especially with its automatic bed calibration function which helps save quite a bit of time. The 4.5-inch color touchscreen offers comfortable, intuitive access to the printer’s various settings and functionalities.

Flexible build plate

Removing prints once they’re complete is a breeze as well; they build plate is removable and flexible, so all you have to do is bend the plate and the prints will pop off.

Other interesting features include an integrated spool holder, internal LED lights, and 4 interior fans for better temperature control.

Creator 3 material compatibility

As mentioned previously, the FlashForge Creator 3 professional 3D printer is capable of 3D printing engineering materials and composite materials such as PA-CF.

These materials often require tough nozzles, to withstand abrasive chopped carbon or glass fibers, that can reach higher temperatures, and a closed chamber to avoid warping.

The Creator 3 boasts all of the above, with a closed build volume, a pair of resistant, 300°C nozzles, and a 120°C print bed to ensure good first layers.

Additionally, FlashForge is launching new nozzle diameters for the Creator 3, including 0.4 mm and 0.6 mm high-strength nozzles for industrial-grade filament.
