Phrozen logo
Based in Taiwan, Phrozen is a 3D printer manufacturer specializing in LCD-based SLA printing technology since 2013. They launched their first stereolithography 3D printer, the Phrozen Make, on Kickstarter in 2017, and have been regularly updating their product line ever since.

Phrozen launches the Sonic Mighty 4K 3D printer

A few months ago, Phrozen launched their new Sonic series with two models, the Sonic 4K and the Sonic Mini 4K. Following this success, Phrozen is now releasing an XXL-sized version of the Sonic, called the Sonic “Mighty” 4K.

The Sonic Mighty 4K offers an impressive volume of 200 x 125 x 220 mm (5.5L) that beats Phrozen’s last large-sized resin printer, the Phrozen Shuffle XL (190 x 120 x 200 mm or 4.5L).

Just like other printers from Phrozen’s lineup, the Sonic Mighty 4K uses LCD-based stereolithography technology. The 4K LCD screen filters the 405nm ParaLED Matrix 2.0 light source and offers an XY resolution of 52 microns.

Layers can be as thin as 0.01mm, and the printer offers a speed of up to 80mm/hour. The Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K 3D printer is compatible with popular, open-source slicing software CHITU BOX.

Pre-order your XXL-sized resin 3D printer from Phrozen now ($499.99) and benefit from a free bottle of Aqua-Gray resin.

Luna, the largest consumer UV lamp for your XXL resin prints

In order to become fully solidified, prints coming off the build plate must absolutely go through a step known as post-curing.

They have to undergo additional photopolymerization; in other words, more light must be shined on the whole part. Otherwise, the part will stay soft and malleable.

There are several ways to post-cure resin parts, but the most effective way is to use a UV lamp. However, there are little options available today– other than nail UV lamps–, and even more so for large-sized objects.

Phrozen has specially developed a huge UV curing lamp with a capacity of 220 x 220 x 270 mm, the largest commercially available resin-curing lamp on the market to this day.

Dubbed Cure Luna, Phrozen’s XL UV lamp is available for pre-order at the price of $249.99:
