Handheld 3D scanners are portable measurement devices that allow users to scan large or hard-to-reach objects without the constraints of a fixed scanning area.
They are portable, easy to use, and allow for a very broad range of scanned objects. They have also become significantly more affordable in recent years, with some costing less than $10,000.
These devices typically use technologies like structured light scanning or triangulation combined with accelerometers, gyrocompasses, and other tools which determine the scanner’s position and orientation.
